Apre un nuovo museo del West a San Antonio, un video sui Comanche di oggi da vedere
There is also a little place in Italy where we’ve been working for almost 25 years to honor and to protect the history of the Comanche nation within the history of the USA. Nemenuh were the horse people, we do our best to walk our path in a similar way. If we can suggest one thing: do more to remind the Comanche way to work with horses. Take care. “Wild horses are a great joy. Like my own freedom, I understood and cherished the spirit of freedom those animals have.”
Dayton O. Hyde describes the 13,000 acres of land in South Dakota that is home to his Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, along with the wild horses that live there, as “a national treasure.” Hyde himself, an 88-year-old cowboy conservationist, is as precious a national treasure, a hero fighting to the end to protect the land, the water and the wildlife of the American West.
Hyde grew up in Michigan, where his family spent summers on a wilderness lake. “I spent a lot of time by myself when I was young,” Hyde says, his voice gravelly and thick, “and the wildlife became my friends. I determined that wild animals are afraid of people because of their energy fields. I…

Tanto per capire come si fa: Monty Roberts e i trailer…
Come tutte le cose ben fatte è il buon senso fatto legge quotidiana: non c’è molto altro da dire dopo aver visto questo breve video in cui Monty Roberts dimostra come si insegna a un cavallo recalcitrante a salire da solo su un trailer. Detto per inciso, il nostro amico Gabriel, un assistente di Monty qui e là per il mondo ma con base a Fauglia in Villa Conti (speriamo presto di avere Gabriel a Rancho Comancho per qualche clinic) ci ha raccontato che il problema di questi show è talvolta di convincere la gente che il cavallo non è “arrangiato” prima, tanto rapidamente impara a far da solo…
Tanto per capirci con gli amici della monta italiana che non lo sanno ancora…
Questo video (grazie, Horse Canada e Clearhills Farriere Service) parla da solo, come tutti i video. Poco da dire se non far notare, nella seconda parte, chi sembri più naturale fra i due cavalieri. E ricordare che i cavalieri, ovunque e qualunque e quantunque, si riconoscono tra loro al primo passo e si capiscono per sempre.
Questo è quello che cerchiamo di insegnare a chiunque venga da noi con mente aperta e cuore grande: diventare cavalieri significa essere un tutt’uno con l’animale, sin dalla prima volta in sella. Non conta lo stile che si vorrà frequentare, conta conoscere i fondamentali di un rapporto vecchio di migliaia e migliaia di anni. Forza e rispetto, sensibilità e decisione.
Ci siamo commossi a vedere il saluto del cavaliere di dressage. Vi commuoverete anche voi. Vi aspettiamo al Ranch.
